Israel’s Minister to Uruguay, Dr. Yaacov Tzur, today presented a personal letter from Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett to Daniel Castellanos, former Uruguayan Foreign Minister, thanking him for his aid to the Jewish state.

The letter from Mr. Sharett points out that during the period that Mr. Castellanos was Foreign Minister of Uruguay, this country granted de jure recognition to Israel, it was the first Latin American nation to receive a diplomatic delegation from the Jewish state and vigorously supported the admission of Israel to United Nations membership.
