The New York Federation of Reform Synagogues today inagurated a “Big Brother” plan for new congregations. The plan, approved by delegates at a meeting here representing 52 Reform synagogues in the metropolitan area, calls for the “adoption” by established congregations affiliated with the Federation of fledgling congregations for the purpose of guiding and assisting them in the initial stages of their development.

Herman M. Stein, President of Temple Israel of Lawrence, reported to the meeting that some 40 new synagogues had been organized in the last two years with the aid of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, and that another 20 congregations are in the process of formation.
