A new effort to halt the “drift from the land” in Jewish agricultural colonies in Argentina will be made as a result of a conference here of leaders of the Jewish Colonization Association and J.C.A. settlers from Argentina, it was announced today.
Among the positive moves to be made will be the expansion of small farm holdings, wherever land is available, in order to improve the standard of living of the settlers. Children of J.C.A. settlers will be sided in setting up farms of their own and land of departing colonists will be repurchased for distribution among new colonists or old settlers needing additional land. As in the past, land will be sold to colonists at prices substantially below the market price. It was also agreed to intensify cooporation between J.C.A. and the settlers and to establish in Buenos Aires a joint consultative committee to consider all problems of the colonists and the organization.
