French Rabbinate Calls for Ban on Atomic Weapons; Condemns Mercy Killings

The General Assembly of the French Rabbinate, meeting here today under the chairmanship of Chief Rabbi Isaie Schwartz, called for the prehibition of atomic weapons. It instructed the Rabbinical Council to draft a resolution to this effect for publication.

The Assombly also considered the problem of artificial insemination. It decided to issue a statement after consulting rabbinical authorities in Israel, Great Britain, United States and Morocco, as well as obtaining technical details from gynecologists and psychologists. The Assembly condemnsia as contrary to Jewish law.
