A decision to raise three million pesos–about $300,000–through the sale of 300 burial places to wealthy members of the Jewish community here was adopted by the General Assembly of the Ashkenazi Kehillah which is in sole control of Jewish community cometeries.

One-third of the above sum will be allocated for Israel, another third will be spent on the construction of Jewish school buildings, while the remainder will be set aside for Jewish educational activities, including the training of Jewish youths for emigration to Israel. The General Assembly, which represents 40,000 Jewish families affiliated with the Ashkenazi Kehillah in Buenos Aires, also decided to appoint a chief rabbi for the community.
