President Juan Peron of Argentina issued a Rosh Hashanah message through the pro-Peron Jewish group, Organizasion Israelita Argentina–which he said “represents Argentine Jewry with dignity”–extending “cordial and affectionate greetings” to all Jews.
“In transmitting to them heartfelt congratulations, I hope that the coming new year will bring them happiness, which we desire for all Argentinians and inhabitants of this land of work and peace,” President Peron’s message said. New Year’s greetings to the Jewish community here were also extended by Mme. Eva Peron, wife of the President.
