Seven boys out of the group of 25 who were arrested in Hyde Park in connection with their efforts to retaliate against anti-Semitic hoodlums in the Dorchester area were given a third deferment in the case which is being tried before Judge Daniel W. Cassy.
The deferment was requested by Police Commissioner Thomas F. Sullivan who said he wanted the delay “to make further investigation.” The case will again be taken up on January 5. The seven youths, in the meantime, were released after posting bonds of $500 each. The group of 18 who remain of the original 25 are released in personal recognizance.
The difficulties began a few weeks ago when Jewish boys in the Dorchester district, in the vicinity of Hecht House, a local community center, were attacked and beaten by boys from Hyde Park. A group of Jewish boys decided to go out to Hyde Park and retaliate and the arrests followed.
