More Jews were arrested during the last few days with the alleged discovery of arms in a Baghdad synagogue, the Beirut radio reported today. The total number of arrested Jews exceeds 200, the broadcast said.

The Arab radio broadcast said that the transportation of Iraqi Jews, “who relinquished their nationality and were permitted to leave the country for Israel” was completed yesterday. The broadcast stated the number of Jews who emigrated since May, totalled 194,000 ” of whom only 4,000 were deported against their will.”

Four planes bringing about 400 Jews from Iraq to Israel arrived at the Lydda airfield during the past 24 hours. It is estimated that 4,000 Jews are still awaiting transportation from Baghdad to the Jewish state.
