The formation of a coalition government consisting of the Mapai, General Zionist and Progressive Parties, which appeared certain and imminent early yesterday struck a major snag late in the evening when General Zionist sources charged Premier David Ben Gurion with going back on the promises he had made the centrist party earlier. The Premier continued negotiations today with the General Zionists and the Mizrachi Workers.

These sources claim that the Premier promised the General Zionist Party four portfolios, with one of the four Ministers also holding the post of Deputy Premier, which was to be created specifically for this purpose, Now, the General Zionists say, Ben Gurion refuses to create the Deputy Premiership.
