The Jordanian authorities were given notice today that any further shooting by Jordanian forces into Israeli territory would be met by a return of fire by Israeli troops.

The Israeli warning was voiced at a meeting of the Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission on Thursday after U.N. chairman Col. Bennet de Ridder had condemned the recent shooting of a Jewish woman by members of the Arab Legion as a violation of the armistice agreement.

The commission meeting agreed on measures to clean up no-man’s-land between Jordan and Israeli territory in Jerusalem where sanitary conditions present a threat of epidemic. Municipal engineers, health and district officers were called into the meeting and it was agreed that a joint party should survey the district and work out means for cleaning it up.
