Chief Rabbi Lsar Jehuda Unterman of Tel Aviv was greeted today by Mayor Impellitteri at City Hall at the start of his nationwide tour on behalf of the Israel Bond drive. As a symbol of the friendship between Israel and the United States, the Chief Rabbi presented the Mayor with a bronze Chanukah menorah made by Israeli craftsmen.

Paying tribute to New York’s interest in Israel, Rabbi Unterman declared that Israel was happy to welcome the Mayor recently and that its people “were greatly encouraged by your sympathetic understanding and support. ” He was accompanied to City Hall by a group of outstanding Orthodox Jewish leaders. During the next two months he will visit approximately 35 major cities throughout the country.
