Dr. S. Grueber, Protestant Provost of Berlin. well known for his friendliness toward Jews, has appealed for aid for needy Jews in this city and in the Soviet zone of Germany.

Dr. Grueber addressed his appeal primarily to those who want to make reparations because they are guilty through their silence.” Leading Protestant figures in various parts of West Germany have urged Germans to back Dr. Grueber’s company.

Following a meeting with West German Minister of Justice Dr. T. Debler. a working committee of a Jewish lawyers group in Germany has issued a statement that the Minister has a positive attitude toward reparations problems. Dr. Debler was severely criticized recently at a conference of Jewish lawyers in Dusseldorf for his remarks on Israel and reparations during an address to the conference.
