The highest Soviet court in the Russian-occupied zone of Germany has ordered the re-trial of Karl Elie, former Gestapo agent charged with actively participating in the murder of some 30,000 Jews in Poland during the war, it was learned here today.

Elie was sentenced to five years and ten months in prison after his conviction by a German court in the East Sector of Berlin. However, the Soviet court ruled that the sentence was “inadequate” and ordered a new trial.
