Inadequate indemnification legislation is responsible for the fact that a third of all Jews in Bavaria exist on pensions or aid from Jewish welfare funds, it was reported here today at a meeting of “Landsverband Der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinden in Bayern.”

About half of the Bavarian Jewish community–which today is smaller than the community living in Munich before 1933–consists, according to the Landsverband, of sick, old and disabled persons.

Bavarian Minister of the Interior Dr. Wilhelm Hoegner told the Lower House of Parliament here yesterday that he would “prevent with all means at my disposal the return of national socialism.” If necessary, he said, he would use police force to maintain peace and order.
