The Jews of Turkey have and will continue to have the fullest opportunity to participate in all aspects of Turkish national life, Fuat Keuprulu, Turkish Foreign Minister, affirmed here today.
The Minister told Dr. M.L. Ferlzweig of New York and A.L. Easterman, of London, representatives of the World Jewish Congress, that Turkey makes no discrimination among Turkish citizens on the basis of their religious belief or racial origin and declared there is and will continue to be complete equality in the exercise of citizenship.
“All citizens will continue to have the fullest opportunity to take part actively in all aspects of Turkish national life,” the Minister declared. “I have no doubt that Jewish public opinion throughout the world will understand that this represents the firm policy of the Turkish Government and expresses a basic principle of the new Turkish democracy.”
Prior to the meeting the congress representative conferred with leaders of the Istanbul Jewish community on the religious and cultural problems of Turkish Jewry.
