A bill to grant posthumous Israeli citizenship to the Jews murdered in Europe by the Nazis and their allies was introduced in the Knesset last night by Minister of Education Ben Zion Dinur.
Minister Dinur, who estimated that 6,500,000 Jews had been murdered by the Nazis and their satellites in 21 countries of Europe, explained that anyone who wished to obtain “remembrance citizenship” for a murdered relative and have him inscribed on the citizenship rolls could do so by applying for an appropriate certificate which would be issued upon payment of a nominal sum. A discussion of the bill will take place in Parliament Monday.
