For the first time in the five years of its existence, the Hebrew Union School of Education and Sacred Music last night conferred the degree of Bachelor of Sacred music upon five alumni, Cantors who completed the equivalent of four years of general academic studies on the collegiate level, in addition to a three year course in music, Hazanut and general Jewish subjects.

The School prepares cantors for service among all groups in Judaism reform, Conservative and Orthodox. Nine men who completed a comprehensive three year course in religious music and Jewish education were graduated last night as Cantors Educators at the School’s third commencement.
