The Turkish Government has permitted ### community here to send representatives to the Third Plenary Assembly of ### Jewish Congress, opening in Geneva on Aug. 4th, it was learned today. T### first time that Turkish Jewry will be represented at an international Jewish ### ference.

The Jewish community of Turkey is not affiliated with the World Jewish ### gress, due to a Turkish regulation forbidding local institutions and organization ### have links abroad. In past years, the Grand Rabbinate has twice applied t### authorities for permission to attend the WJC conferences. In both cases, ### ernment’s consent was communicated after the parleys ended, practically ### that the reply was not favorable.
