More than 1, 000 leaders of the major Jewish organizations in New York tonight attended a reception at the Astor Hotel in honor of the eight members of the Israel Knesset who are currently in the United States to attend a session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union which opens in Washington Oct. 8.

Some of the eight deputies, who will also attend the New York celebration of the 3,000th anniversary of Jerusalem Oct. 20, will tour the United States on behalf of the Israel Bond Drive, while others will speak for the United Jewish Appeal. Present at tonight’s reception were seven of the eight: Zeev Shepher, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset; Rabbi Mordecai Nurok; Dr. Arieh Altman; Yitzhak Ben Aharon; Chaim Ariav; George Flesch; and Miss Rachel Zabari. David Hacohen, who is also director of Solel Boneh, the giant Israel construction cooperative, was not present.

At a reception earlier in the day, given for the eight by the Israel Bond Organization, Mr., Shepher declared that Israel had reached a stage of economic stability and that the proceeds of the bond campaign were going into investments. He also spoke of the current Arab offensive along Israel’s borders and the political offensive in the United nations and elsewhere.
