As long as the majority of the Jews does not live in Israel there is need for a strong World Zionist Organization, Berl Locker, co-chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, declared last night at a meeting of the Israel Shekel Committee.

Taking issue with a “certain person”–undoubtedly former Premier David Ben Gurion–Mr. Locker said he does not agree that any one who fails to immigrate to Israel is not a Zionist, but declared that no movement is Zionist which does not work in behalf of immigration to Israel. Zionists outside Israel must work constantly for immigration and world Jewry must be educated not to “lend philanthropic aid” but to participate actively in building up Israel.

It was reported at the meeting that more than 500,000 shekels–symbolic token of membership in the Zionist movement–had been sold last year in 600 settlements and towns in Israel.
