Representatives of more than 500 synagogues and congregations yesterday attended a jubilee conference here of Jewish religious organizations celebrating 50 years of religious Zionism in this country.

A report to the conference revealed that 81 religious colonies had been built in Israel on Jewish National Fund land through the efforts of the Religious Department of the JNF. This department, which was organized 15 years ago, has raised since its inception $5,000,000, chiefly among the members of religious groups, it was reported by Nat Levine, chairman of the department.

Greetings were received by the conference from the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Isaac Halevy Herzog, and Dr. Abraham Granott, world chairman of the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem. Rabbi Herzog urged the Jews of the United States to “come to the assistance of their brethren in Israel who are now hard pressed along the borders by hostile neighbors.” Dr. Granott advised the conference that 120 new border settlements have been built in Israel within the last three years “as a living wall guarding the frontiers against assaults.”

A unanimously adopted resolution called for the establishment of a synagogue council for the Jewish National Fund for the purpose of further integration of the synagogues and congregations in the work of the Jewish National Fund.
