The Israel Parliament approved today the first reading of a measure providing for punishment of Israelis who injure the Jewish State while they are abroad. The measure does not provide for extradition because a general extradition measure now under consideration would cover this situation too.

The bill provides punishment for Israeli nationals abroad who damage the property of Israel, of the World Zionist Organization or of similar institutions; it punishes Israelis in positions of state or municipal authority for dereliction of duty while they are abroad; and it punishes persons who forge Israeli bank notes or official documents or who falsely represent themselves as Israeli officials.
