358 Dutch Jewish Orphans Are Under Non-jewish Guardianship

Of the total of 1,056 Jewish war orphans in Holland, 358 are currently under non-Jewish guardianship, 457 are under Jewish guardianship and the remaining 241 are now of age and taking care of themselves, it was reported here today in the 1953 report of the Jewish child care organizations in Holland.

The children under non-Jewish guardianship include 171 boys and 187 girls, of whom eight boys and 15 girls actually live in Jewish institutions or homes although responsibility for their care rests with non-Jewish sources. The children under the care of Jewish organizations include eight boys and 17 girls who live with non-Jewish families or institutions. Among those who are now old enough to assume responsibility for themselves, 146 live in a non-Jewish atmosphere.
