Philip M. Klutznick, president of B’nai B’rith, on his return from a tour of Europe and Israel, issued today the following statement: “There has been some discussion on a proposal to create an enlarged Jewish forum for the consideration of world Jewish problems. As the President of B’nai B’rith, I have participated in conferences in accordance with our policy to meet with anybody to talk on any matter involving the welfare of the Jewish people. No concrete proposals having been developed, no commitments have or can be made by the B’nai B’rith.
“The B’nai B’rith is now actively represented in 34 nations of the world. We are vitally concerned with anything on the international scene that affects the common interests of Jewry. It is in pursuit of this concern that we are associated with the Board of Deputies of British Jews and the South African Board of Jewish Deputies in the Coordinating Board of Jewish Organization. The extension of our interests and activities in this area is inevitable, and we are therefore equally occupied with improving the effectiveness of our relationship and work. Obviously, we shall therefore consider anything that will move in that direction.”
