A spokesman for the Soviet delegation to the United Nations told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today that the statement on Jewish religious life in the Soviet Union distributed by the delegation was authorized in Moscow, but that the delegation had no details as to the identity of M. Rabinovich, who signed the statement.

The spokesman assured the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that he would make inquiries as to the position held by Mr. Rabinovich and would then be in a position to give the JTA information about him. No Jew of importance in the USSR by the name of M. Rabinovich is known in the United States.
