Israel and the Soviet Union have exchanged notes which constitute a shipping agreement between the two states, it was announced her today. The notes were exchanged by the Soviet Foreign Ministry and Col. Yosef Avidar, Israel Ambassador in Moscow.
The accord provides for preferential treatment for each others shipping in such matters as port and dock charges and various other aspects of shipping between the two countries. Israel ships a great quantity of citrus fruit, usually through the port of Odessa, and Soviet tankers deliver crude oil to Haifa.
