The World Jewish Congress submitted a statement today to the heads of the Big Four powers currently meeting here pointing out that the cold war has created a gulf between the Jewish communities of the Western world and those of the Communist countries.
The memorandum to the Big Four emphasized that the WJC was not at this time submitting specific proposals for solving Jewish problems created by the cold war. “When, as we profoundly hope, the opportunity has been created by the work of the Geneva conference we shall, as an independent international organization, present proposals designed to ensure for Jewish communities everywhere the same rights and opportunities accorded others to maintain and develop their distinctive life and traditions,” the WJC statement said.
