Johannes Cardinal de Jong, Catholic prelate of the Netherlands who protected Jews during the Nazi occupation of this country, died at Amersfoort early today. He was 70. An open critic of the Nazis, Cardinal de Jong circulated pastoral letters during the occupation attacking various aspects of the Nazi regime including its persecution of the Jews.
