Denmark today became the first member of the United Nations to voice formal support in the General Assembly of the proposals last month by Secretary of State John Foster Dulles for bringing about peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

E. Christiansen, Denmark’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said in a speech to the General Assembly: “The Danish Government notes with great satisfaction the constructive proposal for a permanent settlement of the Arab-Israel conflict submitted by the Secretary of State of the United States on August 26. In our view this initiative holds out so many positive possibilities for peaceful and progressive developments for the peoples of Israel and the Arab countries that it deserves the most serious and careful consideration by everyone concerned.”
