Prof. Benjamin Mazar, president of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, presented a scroll to the board of directors of the National Council of Jewish Women today, expressing “profound gratitude for the outstanding support, both moral and financial, they are rendering to the University’s Department of Education, the only institution in Israel training secondary school teachers.”
The parchment scroll states that “the Council is playing a vital role in the raising of educational levels in the country and the maintenance of high academic standards.” The scroll was accepted in behalf of the 62-year-old educational and social welfare organization by Mrs. Moise S. Cahn of New Orleans, its president. The NCJW board which is holding a four-day meeting here today appointed Mrs. Frances T. Cahn of San Francisco as the Council’s national executive director.
