Organizations such as the National Conference of Christians and Jews “are making a vital contribution to the fight against prejudice and ignorance which are so often the root causes of racial and religious discrimination and of other hostile actions that widen the barriers between peoples,” Paul Martin, Canadian Minister of National Health and Welfare, told the annual dinner of the NCCJ here tonight.

Mr. Martin, who is in New York as the representative of Canada to the current East-West disarmament talks, said that the efforts of groups such as the NCCJ are “indispensable to ensure national cohesion and they are no less vital if international relations are to lead to a real and durable peace.”
