American labor unions were praised here last night for the aid they are giving to Israel by Mordecai Namir, general secretary of Histadrut, who arrived in this country last week to attend the merger convention of the American Federation of Labor and CIO. Mr. Namir was formerly Israel Minister to Moscow and is a member of the Israel Parliament. He spoke at a reception given by the National Labor Committee for Israel for AF and, CIO leaders.

Congressman James Donovan, Republican, and Frederic Coudert, Jr., Democrat, addressing a meeting of the Zionist Organization of America yesterday, pledged their support to Israel and condemned the Czech-Egyptian arms deal. Mr. Donovan said: “I am opposed to and shall oppose any kind of aid–military, economic or otherwise–to Egypt or the Arab League and their friends.” He also said that as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee he will support “more economic aid to Israel now and in the future.”
