Arab-israel Situation Discussed at Conference of Italian Diplomats

An analysis of Middle East tensions following recent developments there was a part of a special conference called here by Italian Foreign Minister Gaetano Martino, with the participation of Italian Ambassadors in the principal capitals of the world. A communique issued after the meeting said that its purpose was the drafting of a plan for Italian diplomatic action in the present situation, and re-emphasizing Italy’s determination to collaborate in efforts for international peace.

Italian Jewry’s concern over the recent shipments of Czech arms to Egypt was expressed in a resolution adopted unanimously by the United Jewish Community Council. The resolution also urged the Italian Government to intervene in the Middle East situation in an effort to prevent the spread of tension and a threat to world peace.
