Minister of Justice Dr. Alfred Kapfer has been asked by the president of the Jewish community here, Dr. Emil Maurer, to explain why the Austrian Government has released H. Sanitzer a convicted war criminal, as well as several policemen responsible for atrocities committed against Jews in Nazi occupied Poland.

In intervening, Dr. Maurer told the Justice Minister that Austrian Jewry was highly alarmed by the release of the criminals. He told Dr. Kapfer that he wanted to see the legal documentation for the release of the war criminals. The Justice Minister was reported to have promised that he would send a written reply to the questions, but so far that reply has not been received.
