Reports that Israel Ambassador Eliahu Elath was summoned to the British Foreign Office yesterday to hear an expression of Britain’s concern over Jordan’s allegation that Israel was massing troops in the Jerusalem area were denied here today.

It was emphasized that the meeting between the Israel Ambassador and Sir Ivone Kirpatrick, Permanent Under-Secretary, at the Foreign Office, had been arranged well before the Jordan war scare reports reached London. The meeting was devoted primarily to discussing general issues. such as the balance of arms in the Middle East and the supplying of arms to Israel. The Jordanian allegations were not mentioned at all, it was stated.

The British Foreign Office believes the reports of Israel troop movements are exaggerated. An official spokesman said the Foreign Office is of the opinion that there was actually no new crisis involving the Arab states and Israel.
