The Maccabi soccer team of Tel Aviv got off to a bad start here yesterday, losing the first of its six-game schedule in its current tour of the United States and Canada. They were beaten by the American League All–Stars 3-2.

The Israelis got off to an early lead, scoring their only two goals in the first eleven minutes of the first half. The All-Stars rallied late in the first half when they tied the score, and returned in the next period to boot in the winning goal.

The proceeds of the Israeli team’s tour, sponsored by the B’nai Zion order, will go toward the construction of a 60,000-seat stadium in Tel Aviv. Mayor Robert F. Wagner and Judge Nathaniel S. Rothenberg, Bnai Zion president, addressed the more than 12,000 spectators before the game started.
