Heavy explosions across the Jordan border were heard tonight in Israeli border settlements in Central Israel. It was assumed that a retaliatory raid against Jordan was taking place.
It is believed that the target of the Israeli attack was the main Arab Legion and commando base in Central Palestine. Central Israel has been the scene of a number of attacks on Israelis including gunfire directed at a passenger train and the murder yesterday of two Israelis in an orange grove near Neve Hadassah. The murderers were tracked to the Jordan border.
