Pravda, official organ of the Soviet Communist Party, denied today that the Soviet Union is planning to renew oil deliveries to Israel. The Moscow paper termed the report “slanderous and provocative,” and declared that it is intended “to cause trouble between Russia and the Arab states.”
Pravda also denied that Alexander Abramov, Soviet Ambassador to Israel, who is about to return to the Jewish State, discussed resumption of oil deliveries with any authoritative government leader. Moscow cut off oil deliveries to Israel, and recalled Abramov after Israel had launched the Sinai campaign, but Russia is scheduled to send Abramov back to his Israel post this week.
