Israel was charged with plotting to invade Jordan in a Soviet Government statement broadcast over Radio Moscow today. A monitored broadcast heard here charged that “extremist ruling circles” in Israel were preparing military action against Jordan if the regime in that Arab country did not please “the colonial powers and the members of the aggressive Baghdad Pact.”

The Soviet Foreign Ministry statement declared that in this development “Israel is playing a particularly unsavory role.” It charged the United States and the other Western Powers with responsibility for the current Jordan crisis.
