Dr. Emanuel Neumann, president of the Zionist Organization of America, charged today that the U.S. Government “has collaborated with Nasser in producing a repudiation of the very principles governing the operation of the Suez Canal which the United States had itself proclaimed.”
In a statement to the press, the ZOA president asserted that while “our government had previously stood on the unanimous Security Council Resolution of 1951 condemning the Egyptian blockade of the Israeli shipping it now seems to have abandoned that sound legal and moral position and, by its collaboration with Nasser has brought about a worsening of Israel’s plight. ” Referring to the U. S. stand toward the declaration by Col. Nasser regarding the Suez Canal, Dr. Neumann further charged that “we are reaching the point-of-no-return in our dealings with Nasser.”
