The annual conference of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, the representative body of Australian Jews, urged the Western Powers today to compel Egypt and the other Arab states to accord Israel equal treatment in passage through the Suez Canal and the Gulf of Akaba.

The conference also decided to urge the Australian Government to support any action leading toward a peaceful and just settlement of the Middle East conflict. The delegates reiterated their opposition to the organized migration of Jews from Israel, pledging that they would not work to help Jews leave Israel to come to Australia.
