Menachem Beigin, leader of the right-wing Herut party, left via Zurich for South Africa to launch an independent Revisionist fund-raising effort which has cost the South African Revisionist party its membership in the Zionist Federation.
Before leaving, Mr. Beigin said he would call on all Herut supporters in South Africa to give a warm welcome to Israeli Army Chief of Staff Gen. Moshe Dayan who will visit South Africa at the end of this month, reportedly in response to a plea by South African Zionist Federation officials for an Israeli leader to offset the impact of Mr. Beigin’s visit. “It is only regrettable that Gen. Dayan agreed to become a tool of one party in Israel,” the Herut leader said.
