A slow down is in progress on the Haifa docks which has affected the rate of export of citrus fruits, Israel’s greatest earner of foreign currency.

The stevedores are demanding a reduction of their income taxes. The strike is unauthorized and efforts by leaders of the union to get the men to call of their action have proven fruitless.
