Nelson A. Rockefeller has accepted the chairmanship of “person-to-person month” in the 1958 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, and will direct the activities of 10, 000 volunteer workers in the climactic phase of the drive which begins during the latter part of May, according to an announcement today by Monroe Goldwater, UJA president.
For Mr. Rockefeller, the new post marks the renewal of active association with the leadership of UJA. In 1946, he served as chairman of the UJA’s non-sectarian campaign committee and has supported the organization’s efforts since that time. “Mr. Rockefeller’s acceptance of this key post is a development which will hearten every UJA volunteer,” Mr. Goldwater said. “As one of the world’s foremost philanthropists, Mr. Rockefeller is proving once more that the finest humanitarianism transcends the boundaries of faith.”
