Friendship Between U.S. and Israel Remains Strong, Hadassah Leaders Told

Despite occasional differences of opinion, the strong bond of friendship between the United States and Israel has never been weakened or impaired, Mrs. Samuel W. Halprin, acting chairman of the American section of the Jewish Agency, declared today at a Hadassah gathering celebrating the tenth anniversary of Israel’s establishment. More than 1, 500 leaders and members of Hadassah attended the function in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldori Astoria Hotel.

Mrs. Halprin said that the bond of friendship between the United States and Israel “has expressed itself not only in words but in economic and technical assistance, which constituted a joining of forces for the development of Israel.” She added that “as Israel looks ahead to its second decade, it is clear that its tasks in the next ten years will be no less difficult than those of the first” She stressed that Israel counts upon the continued friendship and support of the American people and the Government of the United States in the fulfillment of its constructive undertakings.

Dr. Miriam K, Freund, national president of Hadassah, said that “Israel is ready and willing to help its Arab neighbors in the field of health, Israel is prepared to help train Arab nurses, medical, dental and pharmacy students. Israel is prepared to send out its experts to help Arab countries set up proper health institutions, Israel is ready to assist in training Arab specialists in all branches of medicine and surgery. Israel is willing to provide these specialized services to the impoverished Arab peoples.”
