Carlos L. Israels, president of United Hias Service, on his return from a three-week visit to Latin America, today expressed confidence that Brazil, Argentina, and several other countries on that continent are “willing to accept refugees. “

Mr. Israels conferred with Brazil’s President, Dr. Juscelino Kubitschek, who vowed “to maintain an open door policy toward refugees and other immigrants. ” He said that President Arturo Frindizi, of Argentina, had assured him “that there would be no discrimination against Jewish refugees seeking to enter the Argentine, ” and had stressed that “immigrants are needed, especially in the less populated areas outside of Buenos Aires. ” Mr. Israels also visited Uruguay and Chile.
