Bigotry which places Jews or other minority peoples under special disabilities are obstacles to American leadership in the world, Rabbi Jacob P. Rudin, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, declared here tonight at the opening session of the 69th convention of the Reform rabbinical body. Some 500 Reform rabbis from this country and Canada are in attendance.

American world leadership, Rabbi Rudin continued, must be based on brotherhood, not on the threat of bombs. “It is either the explosion of love in the world or the explosion of the atom bomb in the world. We can’t have both. It is one or the other, “he declared.
