Two Jews, Maurice Belicha and Elie Benchetrit, are among the members of a special commission appointed to administer the affairs of the City of Algiers, according to a report received here today by the World Jewish Congress. M. Belicha was formerly president of the Jewish Consistory in Algiers.

The commission, appointed after the resignation of Algiers Mayor Jacques Chevalier, is composed of an equal number of French Moslems and Algerians “of French descent.” M. Belicha and M. Benchetrit are counted as representatives of the “French descent” group.
