Soviet Jurist Backs Arab Demands for 12-mile Sea Limit

A Soviet jurist, writing in Izvestia, official Soviet Government organ, supported Saudi Arabian and Egyptian claims to sovereignty over territorial waters to a 12-mile limit today to bolster his contention that a body of precedent existed for Communist China’s proclamation of a 12-mile limit. The Arab states claimed territorial jurisdiction as a pretext for interference with Israeli shipping in the Gulf of Akaba.
