Israel’s Foreign Minister, Mrs. Golda Meir, met today with Maj. Gen. Carl C. von Horn, United Nations truce chief, to discuss the Israel-Syrian border situation. Mrs. Meir reiterated Israel’s demand that a fortified Syrian position established on Israel territory in the demilitarized zone be evacuated.

The Syrian encroachment was discovered last week when UN observers checking the area where Mrs. Mary Doran, wife of a British military attache in Israel, was murdered, found that a Syrian position opposite the scene of the crime was actually located on Israeli soil. The UN officers drew the attention of the Syrians to the encroachment, but thus far the Syrians have not budged.
